Warsaw 2009: Sessions

Advancements in Cognitive Testing Methodology

Planned on Friday, 8:30 - 10:30 in Room 1.4.

Coordinators:

  • Gordon Willis; National Institutes of Health (NIH), United States

Description:

The goal of this session is to reflect emerging directions within the field of cognitive testing and question evaluation methodology. While papers may vary in scope or content, each paper should incorporate some type of development or advancement within the field, such as novel approaches to data reduction, analysis, or interviewing procedures. Papers are encouraged to have a theoretical emphasis, but should also include examples and analysis from empirical work. For example, presentations might focus on attempts to determine cross-cultural comparability of survey questions, on the application of cognitive techniques in new substantive areas, on the combination of qualitative and quantitative techniques (such as cognitive interviewing and behavior/interaction coding), or the evaluation of alternative verbal probing approaches.
