Warsaw 2009: Sessions

Designing and testing survey instruments for comparative research

Planned on Thursday, 14:00 - 16:00 in Room A2.

Coordinators:

  • Sue Ellen Hansen; University of Michigan, United States
  • Janet Harkness; University of Nebraska, Lincoln, United States
  • Brad Edwards; Westat, United States

Description:

The session will focus on different approaches to designing questionnaires and other survey-based instruments (such as diagnostic or educational tests) for multilingual research as well as on testing procedures useful for evaluating instruments before they are fielded. (We expect many testing procedures for this session to have somewhat more of a qualitative than a quantitative basis.) Papers can focus on methodological advances or insights related to any question design approach, and/or on testing strategy useful for comparative research. Our preference is strongly for evidence-based research.
