Warsaw 2009: Sessions
Implementation Issues in Internet-based Surveys
Planned on Wednesday, 8:30 - 10:30 in Room 1.4.
Coordinators:
- Anja Göritz; University of Würzburg, Germany
Description:
In an attempt to establish the Internet as a survey medium and to further explore its potential and limits, this session deals with data quantity and data quality in Internet-based surveys. Papers suitable for this session address field work procedures and questionnaire design issues to enhance data quantity (e.g., unit response, item response) and data quality (e.g., consistency, length of answers to open-ended questions, respondents’ honesty, response styles). In contrast to other sessions the focus is not on sampling but on techniques and ways of implementing Internet-based surveys. Topics may range from timing of a survey, giving respondents particular instructions, technological devices as well as programming, reminders to the use of incentives.
